Rajasthan is set to conduct a large-scale mock drill on May 31 under the nationwide Operation Shield to assess preparedness for airstrike or wartime scenarios. Scheduled to begin at 5 PM, the exercise will include blackouts, sirens, and coordinated emergency responses across all 41 districts, including Jaisalmer.
Authorities have finalized arrangements with the deployment of Civil Defense teams and installation of sirens at multiple locations. In Jaisalmer alone, 72 personnel and six siren points have been readied to simulate a real-time attack. While the exact locations remain undisclosed for security reasons, residents are expected to participate in the blackout measures.
The Home Department has mandated this exercise to ensure coordinated response capabilities between civil authorities, police, fire services, and the armed forces. The drill will test rescue operations, communication protocols, and disaster management preparedness.
Similar drills will also take place in the border states of Punjab and Haryana, starting 6 PM on Saturday. Officials from the armed forces and district administrations have been briefed to ensure seamless execution of the high-alert scenario.
